Charlie was very impressive in 2016 before concussion kept him sidelined for the rest of the season. We are looking forward to seeing him back in 2017 and the quality he brings to the team.. - The Chiefs

2016 saw midfield back Charlie Ngatai continue his impressive form of recent years which saw him earn a call up to the All Blacks squad to take on Wales. However, unfortunately due to concussion, Charlie had to sit out the rest of the year.

2015 was another big year for Charlie, making his All Blacks debut against Samoa.  The Maori All Black captain was a finalist for the second year in a row for the Tom French Memorial Maori Player of the Year and is in fifth season with the Gallagher Chiefs.

On the back of another impressive year for his ITM Cup side Taranaki, the key play maker was awarded the Taranaki Sportsman of the Year and back of the Year and joint Player of the Year.

Ngatai has played for Wellington, New Zealand Under 20’s, New Zealand Schools and has represented New Zealand in the Colgate games as a sprinter.
